Facebook unveils new iPhone app, 'Facebook Camera'

Facebook has launched a new iPhone camera app that will allow users to instantaneously edit and upload multiple pictures onto the social network.
In a press release on their website, Facebook said that new app will make sharing and interacting with photo “faster and easier”.
“When you launch the app, you'll see a feed of just great photos from the people you care about. You can swipe to see more of any album or tap to enlarge an individual photo,” said Facebook product manager, Dirk Stoop.
“Now you can quickly share multiple photos all at once instead of having to post one at a time. Just select the shots you want to share by tapping the check-mark on each photo and then hit post. You'll have a chance to add a caption, say where you were and tag friends before you share,” Mr Stoop said.
The app also allows users to crop and add various filters to their photos before posting them online.
The launch of Facebook’s new photo app follows their $1 billion acquisition of photo sharing network and application, Instagram.

New mobile phone application for universities students

Students at Abu Dhabi University will soon be able to register for courses, check their grades, and contribute to classroom discussions on their mobile phones.

The university launched its pilot of an application called Blackboard Mobile this week. As many as 75 students will participate in the trial before it is rolled out to all regional universities in September. Officials say the experiment will determine how the smart-phone application might improve classroom involvement and grades.

Half of the students in selected courses will be given access to the application, the university announced today. University officials will compare their classroom progress with the other half through surveys and interviews.
Etisalat is providing the data packages for the pilot at no cost, and will work out discounted subscriptions for faculty members and students after the official launch, said Abdulla Hashim, president of business solutions for the telecom operator.
After the pilot, university officials will decide whether to make the application mandatory for completing assignments or communicating with teachers and classmates, said Rick Van Sant, director of faculty development for the university.
Abu Dhabi University is the first in the GCC to use the mobile application. Officials from Zayed University, UAE University and the American University of Sharjah have expressed an interest in using the product, and will monitor the results of the trial, Mr Van Sant said.

Latest Business Mobile phone applications

Enhancing the mobile Experience

Advances in wireless technology increase the number of mobile device users and give pace to the rapid development of e-commerce using these devices. The new type of e-commerce, conducting transactions via mobile terminals, is called mobile commerce. Due to its inherent characteristics such as ubiquity, personalisation, flexibility, and dissemination, mobile commerce promises businesses unprecedented market potential, great productivity, and high profitability. This paper presents an overview of mobile commerce development by examining the enabling technologies, the impact of mobile commerce on the business world, and the implications to mobile commerce providers.
when build an application for a mobile device such as the  iPhone, iPad or iPod touch ,keep in mind that whatever features your app provide ,it should do so in the most streamlined and convenient manner possible .Consumer may be using your app with only one hand  while on to go .Take advantage of unique mobile frameworks that Apple provides.Think about how you could simplify your app's features and usability by directly accessing built -in technologies such as the accelerometer location awareness ,Wi-Fi and the cellular network .For example of pro that enhances the mobile is Bump, a free
iPhone app that makes swapping contact information (as well as picture ,calendar event, and other data )as easy as bumming hands with another Bump user.Exchanging contact information is not a new concept in smart phones. For years, numerous mobile apps have tried to streamline this process in handheld devices but they typically involve too many button clicks with complicated methods of "beaming" viand -formatted data but on Bump took advantage of build in OS technologies to simplify this need into a single action ,which swaps contact in formation instantly and securely.

Bump Pay
Bump technologies has developed its own mobile payment app which as you might have already guessed, uses the Bump app to enable phone-to-phone cash transactions via PayPal. Bump got the idea from ING Direct which used its API to set up a service that could transfer money within the ING Direct network. If you were to let your imagination run wild with what the app is capable off, you might see a more fun side of endeavors which are usually pain-staking such as splitting a bill at a restaurant and offering to pay for half a tank of gas in your buddy’s car.
The slight unsurprising hitch though is that both parties who want to use the service have to have the app installed before the transaction can be beamed across. The app which at launch is only for iOS is free and if the user has a checking account, they will be able to avoid extra fees. Until further notice, the app is not yet available for download by Android devices, but if we know Bump, it’s probably already in the making

latest business mobile phone applications

Mr. [Brian Keare]'s wife, Eleanor, chief executive of Circle of Friends, was so intrigued by the iPhone that she snatched it from him for a business trip to Chicago, where it helped her make a spontaneous visit to a client's store. Before going in, she was able to quickly access the client's sales records and the store manager's name -- without having to haul out her laptop. Ms. Keare is planning to buy her own iPhone.

Users said the iPhone's Web browser, known as Safari, is one of the most usable on a mobile phone, with better compatibility with many Web sites. They said the large touch-sensing screen on the iPhone -- which lets users pan around a Web page and zoom in with various finger gestures -- also makes it more practical to use the Web. The iPhone is priced at $499 to $599, with a two-year commitment to wireless service through AT&T Inc.

Salesforce.com said its Web site currently works on the iPhone, and that it is modifying its software to more effectively display the site through the iPhone browser. Zimbra Inc., which makes a Web-based competitor to Microsoft Corp.'s Outlook email, calendar and contacts program, expects to offer a version of its software tailored to the iPhone next month.
